Bigger Pockets Real Estate Podcast: 5 Tools To Unlock Your “Ideal Life” w/ “Traction” Author Gino Wickman
As I have mentioned before, our firm runs on Gino Wickman’s EOS system which is a strategy outlined in his book Traction. I would highly recommend it for any teams!
What I did not previously know about Gino Wickman, was that he started his early career as a real estate agent, earning a GCI of over 6 figures by the time he was 24.
While this was certainly just his starting point, it was this background as a real estate agent that had a big influence on the concepts he drives home in Traction and how EOS was developed.
Be sure to give this podcast and listen, but it you don’t have 90 minutes of dive time to fill (how I consume most of my podcasts ????) I did the hard work for you and took some good notes below with my 5 big takeaways.
My 5 big takeaways from Bigger Pockets Real Estate Podcast:
- Do what you love
What kind of work do you love to do? Break up your “To Do” list into four quadrants.
- Things you love and are great at
- Things you like and are good at
- Things you don’t like, but you are good at
- Things you don’t like AND are not good at
How can you spend the most time in quadrant #1? The goal here is to be aware what quadrant is getting the majority of your time, and strive to spend time in quadrant #1 as much as possible.
- Work with people you enjoy
Gino advocates for 2 criteria to determine who is on your team.
- Do they have your core values?
- Do they: Get it, want it, have the capacity to do it
Your job as a business owner and leader is to make sure everyone is on the right seat of the bus.
- Make a huge difference
Define the difference you are making in the world. Are there charitable organization to partner with? Goals for your family?
Gino’s definition of a leader: “You are a leader when you produce a leader, who produces a leader.”
That is impact.
- Be compensated appropriately
How are you adding value? Be so good they can’t ignore you.
The more value you add, the more money you will make.
Stop doing $25/hr work, so that you can spend you time on higher level tasks.
- Have time for other passions
What are your passions outside of work?
You get to decide what “100%” looks like for you in your business. Decide what that is, and then delegate and elevate around that.
What fills your energy? This can be simple stuff.
